Mobile Web
The Web is Going Mobile…
Is Your Website Going Too?
Or, are you going to give your visitors to your competition?
The mobile world is here. Did you know that there are more mobile devices in the world than desktop computers? (Actually, there are about 5 times as many.)
Mobile Tidbits
It's estimated that the average American spends about two hours and twenty-eight minutes on their desktop computers every day. However, these same people have their mobile phones with them 24 hours a day. These mobile devices are even in the room with us as we sleep (some use it as their alarm).
Tech cycles tend to last ten years. that said, consider the following:
- In the 60's we experienced the mainframe boom and IBM was the king.
- Then came the 70's along with the mini-computer. Sun Micro was one of the biggies
- In the 80's we were introduced to the personal computer and Microsoft dethroned the king
- The 90's ushered in the advent of the Internet along with AOL, Yahoo and some new start-up called Google
- Here it is, the 2000's and mobile is set to rule the world. Why be tethered to a computer when you can walk around with one in your pocket?
Apple has recently reinvented itself to become the next major player with the i-Phone and i-Pad. Recently, Google and a few others followed with the Android Tablet PC. Now we have different types of mobile computing but they all rely on the same technology… and it's not Internet Explorer.
These mobile devices have a browser of their own (think "Droid" for one). And, because of their smaller screens, the sites they visit have to be "mobile compliant" otherwise the site is almost impossible to read.
In 2009, e-bay had revenues of $500,000 through the use of mobile phones during the Christmas season and this year they project $1.5 BILLION in sales strictly through mobile technologies. Amazon.com is projecting $1 billion itself.
So, does this mean that the Internet as we know it is dead?
Well, not yet. But, it DOES mean that we have some more work to do. Our sites need to display right to these mobile devices. If not, we may as well not even be online at all.
The good news is that, since the screens are so small and download speeds aren't quite the same as the Internet in our offices and homes, these new sites don't have to be as complex. And, that translates into a less expensive price for design.
You also don't need another domain name or additional hosting. These compliant sites site right along side the one you already have. The software they are created with is sophisticated enough that it knows whether it's a desktop or mobile browser at the door and delivers the appropriate site.
Going back to the initial question from above, "The world is now mobile; are you ready to have your site join too?"
How to Compete
We create mobile-compliant sites… whether you already have a "standard" site functional now or not.
If you already have a site online, you can get the mobile compliant one without breaking the bank (again). While standard sites range in the high hundreds to thousands of dollars, our mobile ones
start at only $217.00
It will function just like your present site except your customers and prospects will be able to view it on most every device out there.
You are going to have to go mobile soon anyway so why not beat your competitors to the punch? Instead of them taking your visitors, why don't you take theirs?
